Take Action

As we think about achieving desired goals, it can be difficult to determine the elements we have control over to turn a dream into reality.   It is the million dollar question: how do we get from point A to point B?  In his book, “God in Me”, Greg Amundson addresses this exact question.

“Rise up; this matter is in your hands. We will support you, so take courage and do it.” – Ezra 10:4

Amundson comments on this passage by saying, “Instead of listening to the voices of the world, challenge them by speaking the Word of God. Each time you consciously speak the Word of God, either in the privacy of your mind or out loud, you effectively take a mini-break from the world.”

“Although God is continually pouring His blessings out to you, some of His richest treasures must be actively sought.”

Action

We get from where we are to where we want to be by taking action. Taking action sounds simple but it’s easy to get stuck in our own mind and let doubt creep in. We start to question ourselves and wonder what others will think. We let fear and nerves take over and the next thing we know we’re talking ourselves out of it. But action connected to purpose, taken with intention, and connected to important goals will never lead us astray.  Don’t be afraid to go after goals with reckless abandon.

Courage in Action

Courage and action, go hand and hand. It takes courage to actively seek our ideal life. It takes courage to have faith and allow God to guide us. We don’t always know what’s best for our life and that’s okay. We all need guidance from time to time. My main focus for this year is continuing the journey to full potential with a focus on my faith and on service to my family and everyone I come in contact with. I know that this takes work and I have to have the courage to step out and be a difference maker. It’s ok to be my true self and strive for life long goals that will be hard to obtain. Seeking them out will lead to the best life I could ever imagine.

Actions That Move the Needle

What could really make a difference in our life and the life of those around us? What is our life’s mission and purpose? Start with those things that ring most true. Then make a plan for concrete actions to take that will move these ideas toward reality. Think bigger than losing 10 pounds or making more money. What really matters? What really connects to a deeper sense of purpose? Seek that out and the other small goals like losing weight or gaining wealth will just happen. It might not happen right away but that isn’t a failure. We have the present to make our lives great. The future is in God’s hands and he gave us the present moment to be happy and be of service to each other.

Take Action Today

When we lay out a plan to move goals forward, it should make the hair on our arms stand up. It should be so polarizing that it makes it hard to wait until tomorrow. Channel that excitement and drive to achieve your goals, using passion as a barometer to make sure you’re on the right path. If it lights you up, keep pursuing it. Take action today.
